People—Abroad
I took these photographs of people while traveling. The geographic range is from the Baltic Sea to Europe to the Middle East to New Zealand. It’s hard to believe we’ve traveled that much!
A purposeful stride on Boulevard St. Michel in Paris. On the other side of the fence are the Luxembourg Gardens.
Young tourists from eastern Europe enter Luxembourg Gardens. What a beautiful smile!
Intimate conversation in Luxembourg Gardens.
The Gardens attract all ages.
Grandparents, grand kids.
Grandmother is lagging behind this little guy.
Opening for business in Luxembourg Gardens.
Cigarettes and coffee on the Rue Soufflot, near the Sorbonne and the University of Paris.
Relaxing with a magazine at a sidewalk cafe in Paris
Collision course on a Paris street corner.
For the next series of shots I was standing outside a store (Shirley was shopping inside) on the Rue Soufflot, holding my camera at waist level and trying to be inconspicuous. As people walked by, I aimed the lens as best I could and snapped away.
They seem to be communicating. Mont St. Michel.
What’s down there? A village in Russia.
Not sure what the Russian sailor is thinking, but he doesn’t look very happy with the photographer. Tsar’s summer palace, St. Petersburg.
Intrepid tourists head off in the rain to downtown Tallinn, Estonia.
A young man looking out to the Baltic Sea in Rostock, Germany.
Berlin, 2013. I never learned what this photo shoot was about, but the Brandenburg Gate draws a lot of crowds.
Even in 2013 refugees were trying to gain asylum in Germany. It’s interesting that the sign is in English.
Part of the same demonstration.
I couldn’t resist photographing the back lit beard. He’s a hairy New Zealand kiwi at a picnic.
Jerusalem, Israel. As best I recall, I took this photograph in the Arab section of Jerusalem. If I’m correct, then this young woman is exhibiting the epitome of chutzpah.
A fundamentalist Jewish man at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
A fundamentalist Muslim woman walks past Palestinians’ graffiti on an Israeli security wall in Bethlehem.
This and the next few images were taken while we were on a Danube river cruise. The locations were Budapest, Bratislava and Prague.
Motorcycle club in Budapest, posing for a group picture.
Father and son in Bratislava, Slovakia.
A very rare film shooter. This and the remaining photos in this gallery were all taken in Carcassonne, France.
